Since the Australian actress [51] and her playwright husband Andrew Upton [54] became famous in the late 1990s, they have built a multi-million dollar real estate portfolio around the world.

Cate first entered the property market in 1996 when she bought a one bedroom beach apartment in Coogee, Sydney.

She sold the humble pad five years later at an auction for $ 358,000, which was $ 60,000 above the reserve price.

She bought this property in 1998 with her current husband for $ 441,000.

They sold it for $ 950,000 in 2011, more than double what they paid for it.

The property was renovated for three years before changing hands, including the installation of a rooftop pool.

The house also has a self-contained apartment under the pool, a riverside tennis court and a garden designed by Will Dangar.

The couple sold the house for $ 20 million in 2017, making a decent profit of $ 9.8 million.

Vanuatu

Cate and Andrew bought a luxury island vacation in Vanuatu in 2011.

The large property called Matanara is in a secluded waterfront location on the island of Efate.

Matanara encompasses six land titles, each covering around one hectare, and stretches over more than 200 meters of pristine beach.

The house has two modern pavilion-style buildings connected by a huge wooden deck, and is surrounded by lush tropical gardens.

The couple offered Matanara for sale in August 2019 for $ 1.4 million, but haven't found a buyer yet.

Berowra Creek

In 2014, Cate and Andrew bought a three-story vacation home in Berowra Creek for $ 1.495 million.

The rustic property is on the edge of Berowra Valley National Park and is only accessible by boat.

In 2015, Cate and Andrew sprayed a $ 8 million five-bedroom apartment in the heart of Sydney's business district.

The two-story apartment is located in the historic Astor building and offers panoramic views of some of the city's most famous attractions, including Sydney Harbor, the Opera House and the Royal Botanic Garden.

The first floor offers an open living room with a lounge, a spacious kitchen and dining area and two bedrooms.

The house previously belonged to Barry Humphries, better known for his comedic alter ego Dame Edna, who illegally merged three units in the historic building 35 years ago.

Cate and Andrew offered the property for sale at $ 12 million in March 2020, but have yet to find a buyer.

Cate and Andrew currently live with their four children in a historic English mansion in East Sussex called Highwell House.

They bought the property in 2016 for $ 6.25 million.

The sprawling Victorian red brick mansion was once home to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Doctor Who actor Tom Baker and has five reception rooms, seven bedrooms and a curved oak staircase.

The property sits on 13 acres of lush grounds and offers breathtaking views of the hilly English countryside.
