A couple who moved in together just days after their wedding became the first successful couple in Married at First Sight history.
Elementary school teacher Michelle, 25, from Hastings tied the knot with stranger Owen, 31, from Sheffield, days before the nation went into lockdown in March of this year.
After they decided to move in together, love for Owen and Michelle blossomed, but uncertainty crept into their relationship as they discussed where they would live after the experiment.
In the series finale of the hit Channel 4 show tonight, the couple announced that they planned to stay together and even talked about having kids. Owen explained, "We've talked about children and we think maybe three or four years."
Michelle, 25, and Owen, 31, (pictured) had a lavish ceremony at Eastwell Manor in Ashford Kent days before the nation was locked down
After getting married at an elaborate ceremony at Eastwell Manor in Ashford Kent, the couple enjoyed a week-long honeymoon before deciding to move into Brighton together.
They moved in together during the Covid-19 crisis and spent three months together in lockdown.
As a result of tonight, the couple struggled to decide where to live after the experiment ended.
Speaking to her friends and sister Kat, Michelle explained: "Am I converting to a northerner like some people or do I stay in the south?"
She told the camera, “There is a lot left behind in the south, my family and friends, many of them are in the south.
"I'm leaving work behind, but there is Owen in the north."
Kat said, “I have a feeling you haven't proposed any more in the south. I feel like you've just passed the first plan that came to mind. «
Michelle stated, “I'm thinking about it, I haven't made a decision yet.
“I care about you, I care about my friends. But if I haven't left my life behind, Owen has to leave his life behind. & # 39;
Kat replied, "The problem is, we haven't even talked about how he got here."
Michelle snapped back: "We have. Just because you weren't part of this discussion doesn't mean we haven't discussed it. & # 39;
Michelle (pictured) told dating experts that she was "incredibly lucky" to have found Owen and that she was ready to move to Sheffield to be with him
Kat said to her, "I just have the feeling that we're involved in it too. You're talking about going north with someone you don't know.
“I'm under pressure to say something because no one else will. I just want you to think. It's not that I say, "Don't go with this guy".
Owen added, "We've talked about these pressures. We know we must both be happy wherever we both end up and make sure we make you as happy as possible."
But Kat was unimpressed and said to her sister, “It's completely selfish, but not just for me. For mom, dad, your friends, the other members of our family. I'm just making the point for everyone. & # 39;
Owen later told the camera, “Kat was very upset about conversations about where we were going. I feel bad. It will make Michelle reconsider. It's something that I'm worried about. & # 39;
The couple's marriage was quickly put to the test when the Covid-19 crisis hit days after the wedding and they moved in with Owen's mother
Meanwhile, Michelle admitted that her sister's comments were “disturbing” and added, “This is not a decision I make lightly.
“I still have until Decision Day to see where we will end up. I'm glad we had this conversation because it gives me things to think about that I hadn't thought of before. & # 39;
Wanting to get a feel for what life in Sheffield could be like, Michelle visited Owen's home in Sheffield.
He wanted to show Michelle the house he just bought that would become her married home when she moved.
Michelle confessed, “It's pretty scary … is this a place I imagine I am living in? It feels like a pretty big day.
Kat (pictured) told her sister Michelle that she was feeling pressure to say something about her decision to move north with someone she doesn't know well
“What if I don't like it? What if I can't imagine myself there for a while? & # 39;
The couple later meet with the experts to find out if they want to stay together after the experiment.
Michelle said she plans to move to Sheffield to stay with Owen, adding, "I feel so incredibly happy that I found Owen and that we love each other."
And later, when the camera revisited her six months after the wedding anniversary, Michelle said, “I feel like it's over so soon. It's crazy, a year ago this time, I was in a completely different place and worked in a different place.
"Life has totally changed, but everything was great."
Owen said they discussed conversations about children and said, "We've talked about children and we think three or four years maybe."
