Both brands are currently available in the online supermarket. Waitrose items can be shipped by today and M&S products will be available starting tomorrow.

After comparing the cost of goods like chopped tomatoes, olive oil, and kitchen roll, which one? found the biggest difference in price on a block of cheese.

A 550g UK medium cheddar cheese costs £ 4 at Waitrose, while M&S only charge customers £ 2.75.

A 2-pint bottle of trained milk also turned out to be 4 pence cheaper at M & S, while a 2-pack of kitchen roll costs 20 pence less.

However, not all items are cheaper, although the brand claims they will equal or exceed the cost of all Waitrose branded products sold through Ocado.

MailOnline has asked M & S for a comment.

A pack of jumbo cod fingers is just £ 3.25 at Waitrose, 75p less than at M&S. A 750ml bottle of M&S brand toilet cleaning gel costs 15p more than the Waitrose version.

When the deal between M&S and Ocado was announced last February, there were questions about how suitable it would be for weekly family deals.

M&S will pay Ocado £ 750 million for a 50 percent stake in the new company when the online supermarket's 20-year contract to supply Waitrose products expires.

As part of the collaboration with Ocado, 6,000 of its products will be brought online, including replacements for the 4,000 Waitrose products available in the online supermarket.

M&S has also developed 750 new products, including larger pack sizes, so family buyers can get the same range of Ocado products as before.

At the same time, both companies are increasing their advertising in order to win customers who have not yet made a decision.

A Waitrose advertising campaign in newspapers and on social media highlights products from their own cultivation, which "will only be available in our stores and on waitrose.com".

M & S is also preparing a campaign focusing on the value for money and the quality of its offer.
