Senior police officer is accused of having lost confidential information in the anti-corruption probe

One of Victoria's best police officers was suspended by the police after he was charged by the state anti-corruption watchdog with the disclosure of restricted information.

Commander Stuart Bateson was suspended after being indicted on Thursday after an investigation by the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission into three charges relating to a restricted matter disclosure.

He is due to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on July 4th.

"As this is an IBAC investigation, it would be inappropriate to make further comments," a Victoria Police spokeswoman said in a statement.

It is not clear what Commander Bateson allegedly leaked or to whom.
