Down Detector, a website and online service outage monitoring platform, is one of the few places where the public can check out the outage.

The outage report shows that more than 48,000 people reported problems with Twitter that came in around 9:30 a.m. ET.

The Down Detector outage map shows a number of major cities in the United States in red, including Seattle, San Francisco, Washington DC, and New York City.

Twitter has also gone under in Japan, parts of India and Indonesia, as well as countries in Europe.
