President Donald Trump continued his lengthy cross-country campaign with a Sunday trip to New Hampshire, where he poked fun at social distancing guidelines even as the White House battled a coronavirus outbreak among Mike Pence's employees.
Just minutes after his speech, Trump began throwing himself into the "sleepy Joe" Biden, whom he mocked for calling an early "lid" instead of contacting voters on Sunday.
"The guy has more lids …" said Trump.
"I was told in New Hampshire that you can't have a lot," Trump said in his speech at a Londonderry airport.
"You have to go to everyone's dining room and have dinner with them," he quipped.
"Biden is the candidate for disengagement," claimed Trump. "The Democrats are the shutdown party."
President Donald Trump held a rally at the airport in Londonderry, New Hampshire on Sunday boasting of his busy campaign calendar the week leading up to election day
He set out his full campaign rally schedule and contrasted Biden's schedule, which the candidate drastically withdrew from campaign norms amid the coronavirus.
"I do three or four of these fools a day. That's not bad. And he's got the lid on."
“But what do we do with the COVID now? They always talk about cases, "said Trump, complaining about media reports of rising US coronavirus infections. “Do you know why we talk about cases? We only do tests. "
“We have the best tests. And we come over, we round the curve. Even without the vaccines, we're rounding the turnaround, ”said Trump.
He made fun of Biden's socially distant events, including a drive-in rally with former President Obama.
"You don't show Biden's crowd when seven people show up," Trumps said while complaining about the media. & # 39; And you know what? They don't show Barack Hussein Obama – said Trump, using Obama's middle name as he had repeatedly done over the past few days.
He drew flies. Have you ever heard the expression Obama drew flies. But they don't show that. "
With the US having nearly 80,000 cases for the second straight day, Trump said, “We have the best tests. And we come over, we round the curve. Even without the vaccines, we are rounding off the turnaround. "
Biden called a "lid" – which means the end of personal public events for the day – after going to church near his home in Delaware. He will be commenting online for a virtual concert organized by his campaign.
As with previous Trump events, masks were not mandatory and many viewers waived face coverings.
Even when five pence advisors tested positive, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, and adviser David Bossie were all seen wearing a mask at the outdoor event.
"We'd better win Corey." (If not) I'll never speak to you again, "joked Trump, confirming his former New Hampshire campaign manager.
Trump spent seven minutes of his impromptu remarks talking about changes to Air Force One in an unexpected diversion, with election day only nine days away.
"That's a long story about beautiful Air Force One," he admitted upon graduation. "Can you imagine I'll win this damn competition better?"
He said Biden "wouldn't even know it was another plane."
"You have to see the stripes, it's amazing," he added. "I don't want to see it. He won't appreciate it."
He was optimistic about his state-to-state prospects and brushed aside polls that had bogged him down on key battlefields.
"They know we are way up in Florida. We are doing fantastic in Iowa," said Trump from two states that are in the air.
“We think really well in Pennsylvania. We're fine in the great state of Texas. And these aren't polls – these are people now, "he said on a day a new poll linked Trump and Biden in Texas.
He tore up Biden and his runmate Sen. Kamala Harris again.
"They are full of anger and desperate for power," Trump said of the left wing, which he uses to control his opponents.
Trump made his way to two major New England airport rallies on Sunday as the White House grappled with a coronavirus outbreak among Vice President Mike Pence's staff.
Trump's trip takes him to a rally at the airport in New Hampshire, a state where few polls have been conducted, but Democrat Joe Biden leads him averaging 11 percentage points.
The president is also traveling to Maine, where electoral college votes are split by congressional district, and Trump has a chance of getting a single vote if he can carry the district that includes Bangor, like in 2016.
Supporters cheer as U.S. President Donald Trump speaks during a campaign event at the Pickaway Agriculture and Events Center in Circleville, Ohio on October 24, 2020. Trump has two campaign events scheduled on Sunday, even as the White House struggles to contain a coronavirus outbreak among Vice President Mike Pence's aides
He also visited Maine that summer, claiming he had saved the state lobster industry and provided funding to fishermen under the CARES Act, even though the Maine lobster industry peaked in 2016.
The background was more worrying about the coronavirus outbreak. White House chief of staff Mark Meadows told CNN that the vice president "will be wearing a mask today" after being exposed to Pence chief of staff Mark Short.
Short is one of four pence helpers and an outside consultant who tested positive for COVID-19.
But Meadows went out of his way to explain why Pence would continue his own journey – he's going to North Carolina on Sunday – after admitting exposure to his top aide.

While speaking briefly with reporters in the White House driveway, Meadows said, "He (pence) has been cleared for travel by the doctors."
He said Pence was an "essential employee" and was therefore exempt from the Centers for Disease Control policies.
Trump was behind Biden nationwide in two new polls released on Sunday – and in a Dallas Morning News poll, Biden led Trump with 48 to 45 percent.
In a new USC / Dornsife poll, Biden leads Trump nationwide with 10 points (53 to 43), while an IDB / TIPP poll leads the way with 6, 51 to 45 points.
CBS / YouGov polls gave Biden a close lead in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.
Trump and Pence are both out and about, and Pence is campaigning in North Carolina – one of several states that Trump promoted in 2016 that are now in danger.
Pence's office said he had a negative COVID-19 test on Sunday, despite Meadows refusing to give out exactly how many aides are infected. He said the contact tracing was ongoing, despite several people saying during the outbreak at the Superspreader event for Judge Amy Coney Barrett that the contact tracing did not occur after that outbreak.
In short, along with a senior political advisor and three other employees of the Vice President, it tested positive for coronavirus.
Short's diagnosis was first reported on Saturday night by Bloomberg – the same outlet that broke news of the Hope Hicks infection on September 29.
Pence's office later confirmed Short's diagnosis – with the fact that the White House didn't announce the news that it raised its eyebrows.
On Saturday evening, the New York Times reported that two people who were briefed on the matter said White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows had tried to prevent news from being published about the outbreak.
A wild card is how Trump's trip will play out for Collins in Maine. Trump attacked her on Twitter earlier this month. "There's a bad rumor that @SenatorCollins of Maine won't endorse our great candidate for the United States Supreme Court," Trump tweeted.
"Well, they didn't support health care or my opening of 5,000 square miles of ocean to Maine. Why should that be any different? Not worth the work!" Trump added.
