A missing seven-year-old boy was found drowned at home with his hanged mother in an alleged murder-suicide.

Bank analyst Yulia Gokcedag, 35, and her son Timur were reported missing to the Metropolitan Police on Wednesday, August 12.

Police became increasingly concerned about their welfare and broke into their apartment on Lockesfield Place in Tower Hamlets at 3:20 a.m. Thursday.

Ms. Gokcedag and her son Timur were found dead on the £ 767,500 property. An autopsy gave her causes of death as hanging and drowning.

Detectives say they are not looking for anyone in connection with her death.

Ms. Gokcedag worked as a data analyst in banking and had received awards at Barclays according to her LinkedIn account.

She holds degrees in finance and economics from Moscow Finance University before completing an academic English course at the London School of Economics.

The investigation into the deaths is due to take place on December 16 at the Poplar Medical Court.

The Metropolitan Police said the Professional Standards Directorate (DPS) has been informed.

A referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which returned it to the local Professional Standards Department, which is currently investigating.
