An American mother of two was found dead in Mexico just a day after she was reported missing by her mother.
María Rubio said she last spoke to her daughter Lizbeth Flores on Aug. 9 when she was traveling to the Mexican border town of Matamoros and said she would return to her home in Brownsville, Texas later that night.
The affected mother contacted Brownsville, Texas Police Department on August 10 to file a missing person report after losing contact with her 23-year-old daughter. Flores' body was discovered on August 11th.
Local media reported that Flores was in Mexico to visit her boyfriend.

Flores, whose body was found on August 11, died of head injuries after being hit with a stone found at the scene of the tragic incident, police in Matamoros said.
Law enforcement officials reported that part of Flores' scalp had been removed and that her teeth were forcibly removed.
"Losing a child is like having your heart ripped out," Rubio said Friday during an interview with Telemundo.
“I am very sad about what you did to my daughter. How they left them hurts me. The pain my daughter went through there hurts me. & # 39;
Rubio appeals to officials in the United States and Mexico to help bring her daughter's remains back to Texas.
The authorities in Matamoros had not announced any arrests by Monday.
According to KRGV-TV, the FBI is involved in the investigation because Flores is a US citizen.
