A murder investigation has opened following the death of a teenager stabbed to death in east London, police said.

Officers were called just before 7 p.m. on Friday after reports of a knife stab in Woodman Street in Newham, east London.

Police and members of the London Ambulance Service (LAS) were in attendance and found a boy believed to be 15 years old with injuries.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A video shared on social media about the aftermath of the incident showed an injured teen wearing only boxer shorts and being helped off the ground before being led into an ambulance by paramedics.

The 15-year-old was found dead on Woodman Street with fatal injuries.

Police said his immediate family had been informed and no arrests had been made.

There is a Section 60 order in the area that the police can stop and search anyone for no reasonable cause.

The paramedics from the Police and the London Ambulance Service were present and found the 17-year-old with stab wounds and injuries caused by a "corrosive substance".

He was taken to a hospital in West London. His injuries are believed to be life threatening.

In footage of his treatment, the young man appeared to be pressing a white piece of handkerchief to his face.

No arrests have been made to date, but an investigation is ongoing.

Several nearby roads remain closed pending investigations, police said.
