The body of the alleged assassin, a real estate entrepreneur from the Galician city of Vigo who could not accept his former wife's new relationship, was found near the Rande Bridge in Vigo Bay on Wednesday morning.

Spanish police alerted colleagues in Portugal who had been looking for the man suspected of the brutal murder of a 53-year-old man in their rented holiday home in the village of Gondufe, a 45-minute drive south just across the street, in front of their partner in the Portuguese border Municipality of Ponte de Lima.

Local reports said the dead man's partner, the suspect's ex-wife, had her hands cuffed behind her back with electrical cables before watching the murder victim hold his genitals with weapons such as knives and another for about six hours That was referred to as a mutilated Japanese sword known as a katana.

The dead man was named locally as Luis Miguel Fernandez and his partner as Nuria Rodriguez Gonzalez.

The Portuguese daily Diario de Noticias said police investigators suspect Nuria's ex-husband put a GPS tracker on her car so he can track her movements after they split earlier this year.

Police were alerted after the alleged killer fled the property and alerted his ex, who was hospitalized for shock and injuries caused by the ties around her wrists and legs.

He is believed to have escaped the scene in his ex-wife's jeep before deliberately crashing near the property and switching to a black BMW 740 that he owned and that was found near the bridge.

His body was found at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday by coast guards who were involved in the search with police.

All three people involved, including the victims, were originally described as Spanish, although it was later found that the deceased's family had emigrated to France from their native Galicia in the 1960s.

Locals in the Galician city of Entrimo, where Luis Miguel's family originally came from, paid their last respects on Friday as they gathered with self-made posters expressing their horror at the brutal murder.

Police sources said everything indicated that the alleged killer broke into the property his ex and new partner rented after tracking them down and acted out of jealousy after seeing the end of his marriage and his ex-wife's new relationship had not accepted.

Carlos and his ex-wife are said to have split up in March.
