Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes "are dropped from their This Morning slot"

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were reportedly removed from their This Morning slot on Friday.

According to a report by The Mirror on Saturday, the married presenters, both 60, are said to be "angry and upset" that they are being replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

A source speaking with the publication said the TV personality, 45, and the X-Factor presenter, 47, have “real warmth” and are seen as perfect replacements for Ruth and Eamonn, who are now on the show Summer will be present for six weeks.

The insider said of the decision, “It is time for a change and you are perfect.

"Eamonn is pretty angry and everyone feels for him and Ruth that they are very popular on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made."

Alison and Dermot previously worked on the show together, performing it as a duo, while Ruth, Eamonn, Holly Willoughy and Phillip Schofield were away over the summer vacation.

Eamonn and Ruth have been on the show every Friday since 2006, and the couple will now reportedly take over from Holly and Phil to present the show during the six-week summer period.

While it is reported that she no longer shows This Morning, Ruth will remain a regular panelist on Loose Women.

MailOnline has asked ITV spokespersons Ruth and Eamonn as well as representatives from Alison and Dermot for a comment.

Alison is a staunch fan favorite and has been part of the show as a roving reporter for many years. That summer she made her debut as a presenter.

The mother of one performed alongside Dermot and Rochelle Humes as the presenter of the show and was previously hailed as a fantastic presenter by fans.

Earlier this year, The Mail announced on Sunday that the program's editor was trying to change the line-up to include a permanent black presenter.

In a video conference with staff last month, the program's editor, Martin Frizell, said, “None of the programs have a black moderator today.

"We plan to change that, we (this morning) are looking into it." This Morning has never had a black lead host since its inception 32 years ago.

Frizell admitted that finding a black candidate won't be easy, and while there's no indication that Holly or Phillip are leaving, there will inevitably be speculation that the move could end their 11-year partnership this morning.

An ITV source said, “It's a tough question for Martin. He really seemed to mean what he said so it will be difficult to just give the moderator the weekly Friday slot because he would be open to claims of tokenism. & # 39;

Another show insider said: “Kudos to Frizell for being the first ITV boss to commit to this. What we are all wondering now is, "Will someone leave, and if so, who?" & # 39;

Last October, The Mail revealed on Sunday that the station did not have a single non-white lead presenter throughout its daily schedule, although some supporting presenters were from ethnic minorities.

In July, Good Morning Britain presenter Andi Peters paused his segment on the show to make an emotional plea for Black Lives Matter to viewers.

The unwavering show took a break from announcing a competition in its garage to urge fans to continue discussing the movement and insisted that he make the plea as "one of the few blacks on the show".

He said, “I just want to say something as best I can. As one of the few blacks on this show, it's so important that we all keep talking. It's really. People meet me on the street and ask me how I feel about it.

“We all started this conversation, and one of the best things about Good Morning Britain is that we talk about it – we don't paint it under the carpet, we don't type around, we talk about it.

& # 39; We talk about it every day in this program and it's really important that we do it. Any black kid who's watching – you could do this job.

"Anyway, let me tell you about that award … Sorry, I felt like I had to say it. I shouldn't apologize, I can't apologize – I just wanted to say it. & # 39;
