"When you go to plastic surgery, they tell you very superficially what the consequences could be, but it happens very quickly and quickly under the radar and you are told all these wonderful things and you are ready to pay all this money , but you don’t really realize that you’re risking your life, ”said Jennifer Perez.

The mother's death is the last of at least 12 women who have died in South Florida in recent years. A recent study found that people die after a butt lift operation 20 times more often than after any other operation.

A recent law passed in the Senate (732) makes it much easier to revoke a doctor's license in the event of injury or death as a result of an operation.

The Brazilian butt lift: how common is it?

A Brazilian butt lift takes fat from different parts of the body and brings it together with the buttocks.

According to statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2015, it has become increasingly popular in the United States and has become the fastest growing type of plastic surgery.

The rate of glute lift procedures increased by 252 percent from 2000 to 2015. The total number rose from 1,356 to 4,767 procedures during this period.

Injecting fat into the butt can cause problems if done improperly, including fat embolism – when fat enters the bloodstream and blocks a blood vessel.

The estimated mortality rate for BBL is 1 in 3000, according to PlasticSurgery.org.
