An urgent police search has opened after an eight-year-old girl disappeared in a river in Scotland today.
Police and emergency services, including a helicopter, rushed to the River Leven in Balloch, West Dunbartonshire at 6.46pm to report that two people were missing in the water.
While officers could Find one person safely, the police are still looking for the missing child.
The police officers were joined by firefighters and members of the coast guard on the ongoing rescue mission.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were informed of reports from a person in the water in Balloch at 6.46pm on Sunday 9 August.
Operations Control mobilized two devices and two water rescue units to the scene at the Balloch Bridge.
"Firefighters are currently staying on site to help their rescue service partners."
West Dunbartonshire Police confirmed today that the routes near Balloch Road were closed.

In a statement on Twitter, police said: Motorists are being told that Balloch Road is currently closed between the A82 roundabout and Carrochan Road in Balloch due to an ongoing police incident on the Leven River.
"Please use an alternative route."
