Joseph McCann (picture above) approached two sisters on the street – one was able to escape. He denies 37 charges, including raping a child under the age of 13, kidnapping, and sexual assault against 11 suspected victims
A suspected serial rapist kidnapped seven victims on the street and raped two children in a two-week killing spree of violent crime, a court heard.
Joseph McCann arrives at Old Bailey in London today and is charged with 37 kidnapping cases, kidnapping and false detention.
The 34-year-old is also charged with rape and sexual assault against 11 victims, including children.
Today, the jury heard McCann, whose victims are between 11 and 71 years old, targeting two sisters in north London – and how he allegedly raped a boy and girl in Lancashire while their mother was tied up in the next room.
The series of terrible attacks took place between April 20 and May 5 this year in London and the Greater Manchester area.
The two sisters who were attacked in north London are said to have been attacked in broad daylight in April this year, one of whom had escaped.
In an act of "shocking depravity and violence," McCann approached the two sisters on the street and forced a 21-year-old to come to his silver Ford S Max when her 18-year-old sibling ran home.
In the car was a frightened 25-year-old whom he had raped three times and who was supposed to escape by hitting McCann over the head with a vodka bottle.
McCann threatened to throw her into the canal to wash his DNA off her body and warned her "don't worry, or he would cut her throat," it says.
McCann is said to have carried out the attacks in Cheshire, Manchester, Lancashire, London and Hertfordshire between April 20 and May 5. McCann is pictured at a gas station after allegedly snatching a knife-tip woman in Watford
He attacked victims after crossing the streets of north and east London and looking for women to fulfill his dirty fantasies.
The sister wrestled with the rapist and asked for mercy when he packed her in Edgware and said she was a virgin based on her religious beliefs.
Video surveillance of the attack exposed the couple's horrified screams when McCann yanked her from her sister shortly after noon and raced down a residential street.
The younger sister ran home to her mother, who said to the police in a desperate phone call: “A car stopped and someone packed the 21-year-old in the car. She just ran down the street thirty seconds ago.
“A silver car with five or six seats, white man, between 20 and 30. He tried to pack both of them. In the end, he only got one. & # 39;
In the background you can hear them sobbing and asking the police for help.
John Little QC's prosecutor said, “They went home and were only a few feet from their own front door when a silver Ford S Max stopped next to them as they went and stopped.
& # 39; the driver got out; What happened next to these young women was captured by several local CCTV cameras.
“The only two pedestrians you see in one of the shots are the two sisters. You will see the passenger cars I mentioned very quickly.
When she got home, a deeply desperate and panicked younger sister told her mother what had just happened and the police were called.
& # 39; There was an immediate response from the police to such a serious incident. In the vehicle (the older sister) it soon turned out that she was not alone with the man who had taken her.
"There were other young women in the car and when the sister saw her for the first time, she found that this other woman looked very scared."
McCann refused to appear for his first appearance in court in May, so the judge took the unprecedented step of holding the hearing in McCann's cell at Belmarsh Prison (prison pictured).
McCann is said to have carried out the attacks in Cheshire, Manchester, Lancashire, London and Hertfordshire between April 20 and May 5.
He was arrested on May 6th after a nationwide manhunt after a clash with the police outside the town of Congleton in Cheshire, where he was found on a tree.
Mr. Price said the 25-year-old woman, who was already in a silver Ford, came home from work on the subway just after midnight.
“He'd driven the streets of Higham Hill in a silver Ford S Max that night.
When she came out of the subway station, she was in this area for almost an hour.
"A man grabbed her as she approached her house," he added.
& # 39; He put his hand over her mouth. He told her to stop screaming, otherwise he would stab her. He dragged her to the nearby car.
He pushed her in and drove off. These counts are just one example of a terrible ordeal she has been through – one of shocking depravity and violence.
He had threatened to hit a vodka bottle in her face. He made her take off her clothes and masturbate in front of him for many sexual assaults on her, which took place in different places both inside and outside the car.
& # 39; He made her call him "Papa" and say that she was a child. He wanted her to have a child raped. Occasionally he said he would put her in the channel to wash his DNA off of her. & # 39;
It was only when the 25-year-old women hit McCann on the back of the head with a bottle of vodka near Watford that she and the sister escaped.
There, near a construction site, a group of builders challenged McCann and he had to run away.
McCann had already booked two nights at a nearby hotel to continue his attacks.
They fled to Watford. The deed was accomplished through a great act of opportunism, and you can't think less courage, ”said Mr. Little.
The evidence shows that this man had a penchant for vodka and when the chance came, the 25-year-old hit him hard on the back with a bottle of vodka.
& # 39; They could run away and he chased after them. Even then, he might have been able to recapture the sister if some builders working on a nearby construction site had not bravely intervened.
"They didn't really know what was going on, but they did the right thing and stood up to him."
Another 21-year-old was grabbed from the street on the knife date and raped by McCann, the court heard.
She was ripped off the street on the day of the knife and forced into a Ford Mondeo car by him.
This happened in Watford in the early morning of April 21, 2018, when she went home alone from a local nightclub called Pryzm.
"While he was driving, he gave her a detailed and completely wrong explanation for what was happening," added Mr. Little.
& # 39; He called her "Hayley" and said that she had done something to his little sister. He said someone called her "Hayley" and he followed her out of the nightclub. & # 39;
In order to prove that she wasn't Hayley, she showed him her driver's license but gave him her address, where he allegedly raped her on her own bed.
The court later heard McCann allegedly tore two children off the street before raping a boy and girl while their mother was tied up in the next room.

He also kidnapped a 71-year-old woman and forced her to be his driver at the knife appointment.
McCann committed the disgusting crimes in the second leg of alleged rape and kidnapping that lasted more than two weeks.
After a series of violent sexual assaults and kidnappings in London, McCann traveled north to Lancashire, the Old Bailey jury said.
The court heard that he met a mother of two in a bar in the early hours of May 5 this year before returning to her house by taxi.
Over the next few hours, family and friends entered and left the family home until it was only McCann, the mother, and their two children.
John Price QC, the indictment, told the jury how he detained the family prisoner in their home and raped the teenage daughter and younger brother while their mother was tied to a bed in another room.
Later that same day, around 1:30 p.m., McCann traveled to a supermarket in Morrisons, the court heard.
There he kidnapped a 71-year-old woman in the parking lot by threatening her on the knife date before forcing her to drive him to his next victim – another teenage girl, the court was told.
The jury said that the pensioner was exposed to "gross sexual indignation and violence" during the trip.
Mr. Price told the court that McCann kidnapped a young woman during the trip to nearby Heywood, where she walked with two male friends.
McCann is said to have jumped out of the car and told the trio that they had sent social sister threats to his sister – whom he called "Tina Smith".
Mr. Price QC said, “He told them to get in the car. They did what they were told.
He said the woman who drives the car is his grandmother.
Then he told the two boys to get out of the car and wait for him to come back. He ordered them to leave their phones. You did it.
"These phones were later found in the car by the police and brought back to them."
He said McCann ordered the retiree to go to Manchester while he told the teenager that she was his "hostage".
Mr. Price said: “The accused started to tell her that he loved her and that she was his girlfriend. He sexually assaulted her. He kissed her and touched her breasts under her clothes. & # 39;
McCann's two friends, who were ordered to get out of the car, ran to a nearby store where they called the police.
Shortly before 6 p.m., both the teenage girl and the pensioner escaped from the Knutsford Service Station on the M6.
Less than an hour later, McCann reportedly stopped alongside two 14-year-old girls and another teenager in Congleton, Cheshire.
He got out of the car again and accused her of bullying his sister, the jury said.
The court heard one of the girls text a text message to her father saying, "A man in Congy stopped (us) because he bullied someone we don't even know who it is."
McCann ordered the girls to get in the car, drove off, and left the boy who called the police, the jury said.
Mr. Price added: “At 6.44pm the man stopped at a Shell gas station on the Clayton ring road to refuel.
& # 39; This is about half a mile from the place where (the girls) were taken. This is recorded at the CCTV petrol station.
“If confirmation is needed of what he had in mind for these two children, why he had them in this car against their will, this is provided by evidence of what he did in this business. He also bought a pack of condoms.
"Then he returned to the car and started driving."
McCann denies 37 charges, including raping a child under the age of 13, kidnapping, and sexual assault against 11 suspected victims.
The applicants are between 11 and 71 years old and the crimes are said to have been committed in five police areas over a two-week period between April 20 and May 5.
McCann denies seven rape counts, one child under the age of 13 rape, seven kidnapping counts, one attempted kidnapping, ten false detention counts, three penetration attacks, three cases where a child under the age of 13 was caused or incited to engage in sexual activity, a number of sexual assaults and two sexual activities without their consent.
