Jesy Nelson from Little Mix LEAVES the girls band because they are "away for a long time" for "private medical reasons".

Jesy Nelson has decided to leave Little Mix temporarily.

The 29-year-old singer is taking a "long break" from the girls' band for "private medical reasons" after she recently missed the moderation of the MTV EMAs and an appearance in the finale of her band's show, The Search.

A representative of the band said, "Jesy has extended Little Mix's free time for private medical reasons."

Jesy has been a member of the girls' band since its inception on the X-Factor in 2011, along with Perrie Edwards (26), Leigh-Anne Pinnock (29) and Jade Thirlwall (27).

The pop starlet was supposed to appear in the grand finale of the competition, but a statement posted a few hours before the live show revealed that she was feeling uncomfortable.

She was also unable to host the MTV EMAs or perform with her bandmates as planned.

"Nor will she appear or occur at tomorrow's MTV EMAs."

The band, which was nominated for Best Pop, Best Group and Best Virtual Live, previously announced their appearance on Instagram and said: "IT & # 39; S HAPPENING!"

The rest of the band appeared without Jesy to determine the winner of their show's first series.

The band is slated to tour with their new album Confetti in April next year, but it's currently unclear if Jesy plans to rejoin the group by then.

It is also believed that the band's dates may be delayed near the start of the tour due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Little Mix were crowned X Factor winners in 2011 when they became the first band to ever win the show in its history.

The girls rose to fame with their first single Wings before topping the charts with Black Magic and Shout Out To My Ex.

They recently released their sixth studio album, Confetti, which includes the latest hit Sweet Melody.

Elsewhere, Jesy was lauded for her groundbreaking TV documentary Odd One Out, which explored her struggles with online bullying and body image.
