Kanye West was beaten up for "mocking" Islam after naming his new £ 180 coaches after the Islamic angels of judgment and death.
The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Israfil is already in stock by Adidas, while the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Asriel is expected to appear next month.
Social media users have targeted the former artist and the sports company, accusing them of "deeply hurtful insult" for the naming they "have to make up for".
The series follows up on allegations of cultural appropriation made against Kim Kardashian last year – which forced her to announce that she would change the name of her skin-tight kimono suits just six days after her release.
Kimonos are long and loose traditional Japanese garments worn by women.
The Yeezy shoes have had a backlash on social media. Angry shoppers accused Adidas of mocking Islam and called for the name to be changed
The Asriel shoes have also been criticized, although they are not due to appear until September
Kanye West is pushing the boundaries of sneaker design with its Yeezy shoes, says Adidas. He is pictured with Kim Kardashian, who was beaten up in a series of cultural appropriations last year for her skin-tight brand Kimonos, named after traditional Japanese clothing
Social media users are calling for an immediate change in shoe names, an apology and a review of the naming of shoes by Adidas.
An angry buyer criticized the trainer on Twitter, writing: “Angels are considered blessed creatures of God in Islam as well as other religious.
“It is an extremely hurtful insult to Adidas to associate what Muslims consider such blessed beings to be with shoes that they need to remedy.
“It is not acceptable to make fun of other people's beliefs. Even if it were a mistake, it would be considered extremely careless to allow such a mistake to be made. & # 39;
A second added: 'Terrible name choice for a shoe. Israfil is one of the four archangels in Islam. Adidas – you should have done your homework. Not too late to fix that. & # 39;
And a third said, “(Israfil) is an angel who is held in high esteem in the Islamic faith and we as Muslims demand that you change your name.
"It is very offensive to the status of this powerful angel."
Another user added: & # 39; Enjoy the backlash and outrage Huns @kanyewest @theyeezymafia @adidas. That's a shame. Shame on you.
Israfil is one of four archangels in Islam. He is usually depicted with a horn that he will blow on qiyamah – or on judgment day.
Asriel is the archangel of death in Islam and is supposed to transport the souls of the deceased after their death.
Kim Kardashian announced last year that she was changing the name of her kimono solutionwwear after severe setbacks. She has yet to reveal the new name
Many believed that Kim's trademark kimono disregarded traditional 15th-century kimono clothing (a Japanese kimono shown at right).
Yeezy is a popular shoe brand sold by Adidas Originals. The sportswear company says online: & # 39; Chicago-based Kanye West broke new ground in 2015 when he explored the world of fashion and sneakers.
"Staples like the Yeezy 350, Yeezy 500 and Yeezy 700 have become iconic favorites as West continues to push the boundaries of sneaker design."
MailOnline has asked Adidas for a comment.
Who is the angel of judgment Israfil and the angel of death Asriel?
The Archangel of the Judgment Israfil
Islamic tradition has it that this angel will blow a trumpet from the holy rock in Jerusalem when the day of Qiyamah – or judgment – comes.
As one of four archangels in Islam, he is considered the counterpart to the Judeo-Christian archangel Raphael.
His name does not appear in the Quran, although it is mentioned repeatedly.
One passage reads: “And the trumpet will be blown so that all who are in heaven and all who are on earth may pass out except for whom Allah wills.
Then it will blow again, then they will get up and wait. & # 39;

Asriel / Azrael
In Islamic texts it is said that he is the angel of death who is responsible for transporting the souls of the deceased after they have been passed on.
He is also said to be holding a scroll on the fate of mortals, in which the names of men at birth and death are recorded and erased.
The angel is mentioned by name several times in the Koran, along with a large number of subordinate angels of death who are supposed to work alongside him.
Along with Israfil, he is one of four archangels in Islam.
The angel is said to look like the grim reaper when depicted in western culture.
