Actor Zachery Ty Bryan, who played the eldest son on the 1990s sitcom Home Improvement, was arrested after strangling his girlfriend after a night at a club – just weeks after breaking up with his 14-year-old wife.
Bryan, 39, was arrested late Friday in Eugene, Oregon after a neighbor called to report a domestic dispute.
Bryan's girlfriend said the two quarreled when he put his hands around her neck and squeezed, TMZ reported, according to a police report.
The friend said when she tried to call 911, Bryan tried to take her cell phone away from her and she fled across the street to hide.
When the police arrived on site, they found Bryan in front of his house and his girlfriend in the neighbor's house.
Bryan was charged with strangulation, a felony and misdemeanor of fourth degree assault and interfered with the creation of a report.

Bryan was held in Lane County Jail on Saturday afternoon and it was not immediately clear whether he had a lawyer to speak on his behalf.
The alleged victim in the case is believed to be a new girlfriend, rather than Bryan's estranged wife, who lives in California.
