Gemma said that doctors warned her that she would be dead if she didn't eat or drink within 24 hours.

And since then, she has been struggling with numerous health problems as a direct result of her anorexia.

The soap star said, "My eating disorder was always there, waiting to pounce. At 18 it turned again and I had a heart attack. A year later, when I was 19, I had an intestinal prolapse (when the rectal wall slipped out). & # 39;

Gemma's health fears served as a wake-up call, saying that she had decided to see a therapist and had been recovering for 13 years.

But she continues to take one tablet every day to help her bladder weakened by the bowel movement, medication for her stomach, and laxatives to relieve internal pressure.

During their struggle, Gemma's mother Marg (68) and her father Dennis (73) founded the charity SEED Eating Disorders Support Services.

She went to Twitter after a hoard of goods from her mother and father that she urgently needed was stolen, since both are at "high risk" of developing complications if they become infected with the corona virus.

Gemma wrote: “My parents who are at high risk were burgled yesterday, food and essentials gone.

She continued: “Bring my blood to a boil. However, we always hop back on oats. The next time I'm home, I'll camp to seriously catch them … please be nice. PLEASE think of the big picture X sta safe x (sic) & # 39 ;.

The actress has been swamped with support messages since posting her tweet, and Emmerdale alum Samantha Giles sent her & # 39; love & # 39; to Gemma and her parents.

"Brings my blood to a boil": Gemma wrote: "So my parents who were at high risk were burgled yesterday with food and the bare essentials gone."

The news comes just a few months after her parents were targeted by burglars during Christmas.

When a fan pointed out the previous robbery, Gemma replied: “It did. You know what you're doing. We had updated all security last time. The police said they knew exactly what they were doing. I've done over hundreds of pounds of damage to my people … which nobody currently has.

Gemma has been unable to care for her parents since she isolates herself in London while living in Hull and does not want to risk traveling from the capital – the epicenter of the virus in the UK – to visit her.

However, the actress has insisted that her siblings are on hand to provide the couple with much-needed items.
