Gemma's health fears served as a wake-up call, saying that she had decided to see a therapist and had been recovering for 13 years.
But she continues to take one tablet every day to help her bladder weakened by the bowel movement, medication for her stomach, and laxatives to relieve internal pressure.
During their struggle, Gemma's mother Marg (68) and her father Dennis (73) founded the charity SEED Eating Disorders Support Services.

And Gemma is now spending much of her time raising awareness of eating disorders and calling for improvements in the system that she believes are “not good enough”.
