But Jamie is still in Turkey and it is not yet known if he will ever walk again after the accident.
Now his family is desperate to raise enough money to pay the hospital bills and get organized to bring him home for further treatment.
Mia told the Liverpool Echo that the couple and their three-year-old daughter Amaya were only supposed to be there for a week but decided to extend their stay after Jamie's sister flew to the vacation destination with her children.
The 24-year-old from Liverpool said: “We were only out there for a week but when Jamie's sister stopped by and we decided to extend the trip.
“Friday was our last night and we were supposed to be flying home on Saturday, so we went out for family dinner before returning to the hotel.
"I put Abbey to bed and Jamie said goodbye to some of the friends we met out there."
A short time later, Mia said the hotel manager woke her up to get Jamie's passport and say he was in an accident.
She added, “They woke me up around 1am and said he had an accident and urgently needed his passport.

“Apparently he was talking to our friends on the balcony, but there was no place to sit.
"So Jamie sat on the balcony railing and put one leg down to stabilize himself, but he lost his balance and fell."
Jamie's sister went to the hospital, but Mia couldn't see him until later that morning.
When she got there, she said the doctors said they had to amputate Jamie's foot because it was so badly damaged.
Mia said, “I asked them not to, and they took him to the operation to see what they can do.
& # 39; He had major surgery on both legs and is still very ill.
"We don't even know if he's going to leave."
Mia and Amaya had to fly home that day, but Jamie's sister returned to Alanya to be with him while the family organized to take him home.
Jamie's family is desperate to raise £ 20,000 to pay the hospital for treatment so far, as well as anything else he needs
Jamie, Mia and Amaya had taken out insurance for their vacation prior to travel but were unaware that they would need to extend it after they decided to stay an extra week.
Now they are desperately trying to raise £ 20,000 to pay the hospital for the treatment Jamie has already received and anything else he needs.
Mia said, “They said we have to pay £ 20,000 right now and it will probably be more if we can get him home.
“Friends and family have reached out and sent us money, and I'm organizing a raffle to collect more.
"We should have a GoFundMe page or something, but the money can't be claimed for 30 days and we don't have that time."
Mia said the whole ordeal was a nightmare and she would do anything to get Jamie home and bring him the help he needs.
She said, “He just wants to be home and I need him here. It's so stressful and scary and we just don't know what the future will be for us, but we have to get him home ASAP. & # 39;
