A source close to Elton told The Sun: “Rod's continued prickly and personal criticism of his recent successes has crossed a line beyond their usual amicable rivalry.
& # 39; Elton values his friendship with Rod and didn't want to go public, so he made attempts to contact Rod directly to purify the air.
When his request to speak was either rejected or went unanswered, Elton felt compelled to correct the record with this new chapter in his autobiography.
