The brunette in her twenties, whom the couple met in 2013 when she flew from Holland to the United States to train her horses, was put in the spotlight this week by the American couple's very public litigation.
Miss Pietersen, described in court records as a "young horse trainer from Holland" and given the initials JP, was soon identified.
The Frisian horse expert, who lives in Apeldoorn an hour from Amsterdam, is said to have received lavish gifts from the 56-year-old thriller author, who is a huge fan of equestrian sport.

Brown is accused by his ex-wife of donating Miss Pietersen's horses, a van with two horses, and a car, and financing her training stable.
He is also said to have paid for the renovation of the women's apartment in Holland.
One of the gifts is said to be the award-winning horse LimiTed Edition worth £ 277,000 ($ 346,700).
She now lives in a converted barn in the city of Voorst, 60 miles east of Amsterdam, and runs a stable nearby, which she visits twice a day.
Today a white Volvo car was parked on the driveway and a small dog barked at visitors from the living room.
The thatched-roof property is surrounded by lush countryside and is located next to a corn field.
A neighbor said that she had only lived there for a few months: "When I spoke to her, she seemed very nice and told me that she had come to Groningen from the north of the Netherlands."
Miss Pietersen has posted several pictures of the horse on Facebook, on which she competes and stands proudly with a big smile.
In a post that was accompanied by a heart emoji, she described the horse as "So amazing – my great love limited edition … Proud of this fantastic horse, he really is a dream horse!"
In another recent post, she took a picture of her riding LimiTED edition: "We are working hard to prepare for the show season and hope we can all get back to the start soon!"
Ms. Pietersen has not yet commented on the claims of a relationship, but her spokesman said: "I can imagine that she is shocked by the media attention."
The affair is said to have started in 2014 when it was hired to train a Brown horse.
She stayed at home with her while recovering from shoulder surgery at home and was said to become Brown's lover.
Brown and Miss Pietersen are said to have met again in Friesland when he traveled there as an ambassador for a theater show in Leeuwarden, in which she played a role.

In an interview at the time, she said: “I knew from an early age that my life was only about horses. & # 39;
Regarding the author's admiration for horses, she added: “I recognize the friendly character of the Frisian horse that Dan Brown fell in love with.
"A Frisian horse is also loyal, a hard worker, gives much more than you actually ask of him."
The two "Like" elements from the other's Facebook page and the author published a picture of her on his website in November 2014.
Ms. Brown's explosives lawsuit said, "The net effect of these violations has significantly reduced the status of the marriage."
Confronted by his ex-wife earlier this year about the affair, Brown is said to have admitted: "I have done bad things with many people."
Other issues reportedly included a hairdresser, Brown's personal trainer, and a politician on the Caribbean island of Anguilla, where the Browns had a vacation home.
