President Donald Trump beat Joe Biden after the Democratic candidate made a so-called "strange speech" in Pittsburgh, in which he blamed the president for escalating violence between police officers, Black Lives Matter protesters and Trump supporters.
& # 39; His strange speech today that he gave in Pittsburgh he didn't mention the fact – he didn't mention the far left – he didn't mention the far left or from what I saw I don't think he was mentioning Antifa "said the president on Monday evening from the podium of the White House.
Biden went after Trump, who called him a "toxic presence", accusing him of "inciting violence in our cities" and asking voters, "Do you really feel safer under Trump?" Biden also condemned rioting and looting, and urged Americans "to take action against violence – in whatever form it takes".
In turn, Trump accused Biden and other Democrats of spitting out "Mafia talking points".
“The mob will leave you alone if you give them what you want, that's it. That's exactly what happened to the Democrats, ”Trump tried to explain. "I actually think that they have lost control of these radical left maniacs."
Trump previously accused Biden on Twitter of spending too much time accusing the police in his statements in Pittsburgh.
President Donald Trump slapped Joe Biden's "strange speech", saying the Democrat had used "Mafia talking points" and should have addressed "Antifa".
Trump responded to Biden's speech by saying the Democratic candidate blames "the police more than the rioters, anarchists, agitators and looters". Trump also said Biden could not condemn because the "radical left" would stop supporting him
In a Trump retweet, the Trump War Room showed a short clip of Biden in Pittsburgh tripping over his words as he tried to make a point on the coronavirus death toll
Biden appeared in Pittsburgh speaking out against Trump's leadership while pushing back some of the narratives the Trump campaign tried to crack down on the former vice president
“I just saw what Biden had to say,” Trump tweeted. "For me he blames the police far more than the rioters, anarchists, agitators and looters, whom he could never accuse, otherwise he would lose the support of the radical left, Bernie!"
Trump made similar comments at the meeting.
"They really want to put it on the back of the police," Trump said of Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris, the Democrat's colleague. "There is only one war on law enforcement in this country and without law enforcement we would have no country," Trump said.
During Biden's speech, the former vice president brought law enforcement together to bring them to the table along with people fighting for racial justice.
“I worked in the police force in this country for over forty years. I know most cops are good and decent people, ”Biden said.
The President didn't let what Biden actually said stand in the way of his chatter.
"The rioters and Joe Biden have one side – they are both on the side of the radical left, and that is so obvious, and until this is neutralized you will never have safe territories in these Democrat-run areas," Trump continued. "For months, Joe Biden has been giving moral help and comfort to the vandals and repeating the monstrous lie that these are peaceful protests."
Trump returned to Biden during the opening of his press conference and did not bring up Antifa more than once.
Antifa, which stands for those who organize around anti-fascism, is a loose association on the left and not a well-defined group, although it has become the boogeyman of the right.
On Twitter, the president also retweeted a clip from Trump War Room's Twitter account in which Biden flipped through several lines of his speech read on a teleprompter from Pittsburgh's Mill 19, a converted steel mill.
"COVID has lasted more than 100 years this year – just since the outbreak, look, this is life, it's only if you think about it," shows the clip, as Biden says.
In the end, he spat that COVID "took more lives this year than any other year".
In a written transcript of the speech prepared for delivery, Biden should say, "COVID has cost more lives this year than any outbreak in more than 100 years."
Trump and his campaign team have been mocking the gawking Biden for months after having verbal slips. Biden's campaign attempted to counter this during the Democratic National Convention with a New Hampshire youth talking about how Biden helped him recover from a stutter. a childhood problem that Biden also had.
In his speech on Monday, Biden tried to counter other ways Trump tried to beat him.
“You know me, you know my heart, you know my story, my family history – ask yourself, do I look like a radical socialist with a weakness for rioters? Really? & # 39; Biden once said.
Trump and his allies have tried to tie Biden to the so-called "radical left" of the Democratic Party, including Sanders and "AOC", Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Biden also mocked some of the campaign ads Trump tried to run against him showing what "Biden's America" looks like using images of protests that have gone wrong in the past few weeks.
"Trump and Pence run on it – and I find it fascinating -" You won't be safe in Joe Biden's America, "Biden said.
& # 39; What is your evidence? The violence we see in Donald Trump's America. These are not pictures of Joe Biden America in the future, but pictures of Donald Trump's America today, ”Biden continued.
“He keeps telling you that if he were just president it wouldn't happen. If he were president you would feel safe. Well, he's president, whether he knows it or not, ”Biden said.
