Forensic crews entered hostels over a parade of shops in Southall Friday night after making a grim discovery around 3 p.m.
Locals say a painter visited the hostel Friday afternoon only to discover the "body of a woman" in a suitcase above a drawing room in The Crescent.
Shops under the Pay and Sleep Hostels confirmed tonight that police were looking for CCTV footage from the area yesterday afternoon.
Police confirmed they were investigating an "unexplained death" after being discovered just before 3pm on Friday.
Scotland Yard would not confirm the sex of the body or any other identifying details.

The owner of the Shabana Hair and Beauty Salon confirmed tonight that officials had visited the salon around 6 p.m. to inquire about the CCTV coverage.
Pictures from March 2018 show that a "Pay and Sleep Hostel" service was running above the stores, but a banner promoting the service has since been removed.
Companies including them confirmed that the hostel service is still running and visitors are coming and going regularly.
