Bake-off judge Prue Leith is selling her 17th century mansion for a profit of £ 10 million

As a judge on The Great British Bake Off, Prue Leith is all too aware of the critical importance of timing.

And it was not only successful in the kitchen.

Heard the lovely cook managed to capitalize on the country house price boom during the pandemic by selling her rural retreat for a staggering £ 10 million.

It is assumed that within weeks of being placed on the market it has accepted an offer that corresponded to the asking price.

It would mean a luscious £ 9.92 million gain if she bought the 17th century mansion in Chastleton Glebe, Gloucestershire with her first husband, author Rayne Kruger, for £ 80,000.

The buyer is a colorful figure, Gregor Fisken, whose passion is not for lip-smacking dishes but for classic cars. He has a showroom in South Kensington, London. He will live there with his Argentine wife Carolina (also pictured), a lawyer, and their six-year-old twins

A source tells me, "While £ 10 million may be a fortune to you and me, Gregor is used to such large numbers."

Indeed he is. In 2017 he paid a record £ 37 million for a rare 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. Unfortunately, that purchase was not an unqualified success as it led to a dispute in the High Court over ownership of the car's gearbox. Fisken won last year.

Prue, 80, previously said she intended to keep the family home (pictured). Earlier this year she said, “The children can have this (house) if they want it. And if not, we'll sell it. We have to do it while we are energetic enough. & # 39;

Prue wrote in the Daily Mail last month: “The Glebe (above) has become too big and too expensive for us. So with a heavy heart we sell and (terrible word) downsize. I was very fortunate to live happily in a beautiful house for 44 years. I am really grateful. & # 39;

During the pandemic, country house prices have risen, especially in desirable areas like the Cotswolds, as city dwellers seek more space when they work from home.

Bob Geldof says it is difficult to go to supermarkets as he always hears his hit

Shops have reopened, but one man who still does his Christmas shopping online is Bob Geldof.

And it has nothing to do with the pandemic.

The Band Aid organizer admits: “At this time of the year it is difficult to go to supermarkets because I keep listening. Do you know it's Christmas? and really, I've heard it so many times now that I've left it.

"Sometimes, when you hear it several times a day, you wish you had never written it."

The Smart Set speaks of … the new Bella on the block

Star make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury built a billion-pound beauty empire, but she's not the only member of the family that shines.

Her niece Bella is a very promising model and actress.

Tilbury was first picked up by IMG Models, whose famous client Bella Hadid not only shares her name but also her high cheekbones. She recently starred in a campaign for her aunt's eponymous brand, who renamed their popular £ 40 eyeshadow in honor of her.

Its function is known as "space transport" and was established after his six-month journey to the International Space Station.

Decorate the halls with owls and holly … Jodie Kidd's quirky Christmas party

Jodie Kidd reopened her pub yesterday, eight months after she last had a sip.

But when she put the finishing touches to the festive decorations at The Half Moon – complete with an owl-topped Christmas tree – the model-publicist thought of Scottish eggs.

At Tier Two Kirdford, West Sussex, customers can only purchase alcohol with a large meal. "What counts as essential?" Jodie asks me. & # 39; Two Scottish eggs or one? I think two, but we do whoppers. & # 39;

The pub is fully booked this weekend and Cara Delevingne's family are among those who have reserved a table.

Jodie says, "They're locals and they've been very supportive."
