Apple introduces a new line of MacBooks that start with a $ 699 mini-M1 chip


Apple officially presented the first Mac computers with its new in-house M1 chip at its "One More Thing" virtual event.

Compared to the PC chip, the M1 delivers twice the performance per watt and transforms the new Macbook Air into the fastest computer that Apple has produced.

The new chip has a uniform memory architecture, an integrated GPU and a neural engine and is the most powerful core of the technology giant to date.

The Macbook Air starts at $ 999 and offers 15 hours of wireless Internet surfing, 18 hours of video playback, and twice as long video conferencing as previous models.

It is equipped with a 13.3-inch display and starts with 16 GB of storage. Users can pay extra to upgrade to 2TB of storage.

Apple also introduced the new M1 in its Mac mini, three times the performance of its predecessor.

Starting at $ 699, the updated system costs $ 100 less than its predecessor.

This marks the first time in the 36-year history of the Mac that the line has been powered by an Apple-designed processor that offers better performance, higher bandwidth, and less power consumption than the Intel-based machines currently in use.

Apple has been using Intel chips in its Mac computers since 2005, making the transition to its own internal chips a "historic" change for laptops.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro, which also has the M1 chip, offers up to 17 hours of wireless Internet surfing – 10 hours more than the Intel model.
