Anthony Joshua showed a mature performance to prevail in the 9th round against the obligatory IBF challenger Kubrat Pulev and to start a delicious unification fight in the heavyweight division with Tyson Fury.
AJ stepped back into the ring for the first time in over a year, playing against 39-year-old Pulev in front of 1,000 fans at Wembley Arena, the first boxing event in the UK to be hosted by fans during the coronavirus pandemic.
And it was a performance that featured the devastating Joshua of yore combined with the maturity developed in recent years to get rid of the long-lived and playful Bulgarian.
Joshua put Pulev on the ground on the third round but stayed calm behind his thrust before finally putting the Cobra down with a huge right hand that pushed the challenger away.
